Ana L. Barrios

Graduate Teaching Associate in Spanish

Ana Barrios is originally from Cuba. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Spanish, with a second concentration in Portuguese, at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. She earned her Master's degree in Spanish at the University of Tennessee in 2011, and holds a B.A. in Education from Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska. Ana has a broad teaching experience that includes all levels, from K-12 to higher education, not only in United States but also in Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic. At UTK, she has taught Intensive Elementary Spanish and Intermediate Spanish; has also collaborated as Teaching Assistant in Introduction to Hispanic Cultures (Span 331), and has been selected as Teaching Assistant for the Study Abroad Summer program in Santander, Spain, in 2015. Her doctoral research focuses on Hispanic American women writers in the nineteenth century.
